Hannah's New Shirt

Uncle Robbie's band, the Riverside Blues Club, played the main stage at our local outdoor mall tonight. Towards the end of their set, they tossed a shirt into the audience and after a little bit of struggling with Eli for it, and realizing it was a SMALL shirt, and that Hannah was just about the only one in all the audience who could fit into a small shirt, she became the owner of a Riverside Blues Club shirt!!

Making a List

When we said early this afternoon we were thinking about going to Toys R Us to check things out and get some ideas as to what the girls wanted for Christmas, Hannah wasted no time in opening up a brand new note pad and remembering her pencil!

After a lunch out, we did just that and took the girls to Toys R Us in hopes of getting some ideas for Christmas for ourselves and others who might ask what the girls would like. We had warned the girls ahead of time we weren't here to buy, just to look, and make our lists. Hannah being 8, understands how this works, I thought there would be potential problems with Rachel leaving empty handed, but she did awesome, and actually was rewarded with a tube of M&M's for being so good! Hannah's list has about twenty three things on it, including some movies she'd like to add to our collection. Now it's a matter of getting out and getting stuff she wanted!

Disneyland...Again

Today, we went to Disneyland not only with Gramma and Uncle Bart who have annual passes, but Papa, who is on vacation this week, bought a one day park ticket and we all went and enjoyed a day of Disney Fun. We had been wavering on going due to the fires in Orange Country over the weekend, but after calling the Disneyland Resort, and hearing from someone who'd been at the parks on Monday, both giving the report of it being clear, we went ahead and went. The skies were blue, but there was also some haze off in the distance.

We arrived in time for the 10:00 opening and leisurely strolled down Main Street, stopping in shops, and enjoying the light crowds. The rest of the day, we hit the rides, one right after another, barely standing in line for anything. We rode every single big ride and a lot of the smaller rides. It's a Small World were testing out the new boats, and we'd hoped to ride that, but the line was too long, so we decided to save that for another day.

Trying out the Indiana Jones ride for the very first time. She liked it and said she's definitely go on it again!
Opting to not try Splash Mountain, Hannah sat out with Gramma and Rachel. Which proved to be a very wise decision...Papa, Uncle Bart, and myself came off the ride soaked and not dried out for hours! Doesn't she look cute in Papa's hat?
Managing to score a corn dog off Uncle Bart. She ate the entire thing!
We stayed until the park closed at 8:00. We had a great day! The weather was beautiful. The crowds, practically non existent. Got on a lot of our favorite rides. And both Hannah and Rachel loved having both Gramma and Papa go with us to Disneyland!

Off Track! Let's Go to Disneyland!!

Yesterday was Hannah's 1st day off track, and what better way to celebrate than a trip to Disneyland with friends who are also track in addition to being friends from church! Double bonus! We left our house shortly after 8:00, and by the time we got into the park, it was after 9:30.

Because of the Veteran's Holiday, a lot of people got a four day weekend, so we anticipated the park being crowded today, and it was, but it wasn't too bad if you utilized Fastpass and kept on top of getting new ones when it came time to. There were a lot of characters out on Main Street when we first arrived. Generally you see more characters out on busy, busy days. About mid afternoon, as we were getting off Big Thunder Mountain, I spotted a Disney Escort Cast Member. Typically, if you know what Cast Member to be looking for, when scene, they more than likely are escorting some VIP around the park. And in this case, it was a young girl. I asked Hannah if the girl was the girl from the new hit Disney Channel show, Suite Life on Deck, and she confirmed it was. There was a girl in front of us that overheard me saying that, and they went and asked for a picture with her. So then I grabbed my camera and my girls and asked if she wouldn't mind just one more picture and she was so sweet and kind and said she'd love to. Hannah was sooo excited! n the early evening, Steven and some more friends from church joined us for an evening of fun. We continued taking advantage of the Fastpasses we'd gotten earlier and riding rides with short wait times. We ended up watching Fantasmic, which is always great to see. We didn't leave the park until almost closing, which was midnight. Therefore the girls and I spent 15 hours at The Happiest Place on Earth. We had a great day and did a lot, and today, we're tired.

Parent / Teacher Conference

We are in the final days of this school trimester and because of that ending of the trimester, this week are parent/teacher conferences. This afternoon was our conference with Hannah's teacher.

First of all, her report card was out of this world! In the five subjects in which she receives a mark, she received "A" for Advanced in four of her subjects, and one "P' for Proficient, and that was in her writing. She also got all positive marks on the other things marked - listening, following directions, getting along with others, etc, etc, etc.

Her teacher said Hannah is "quietly competitive". LOL. When papers are passed back, she asks her fellow team members how they did in comparison to hers. Mrs. Tatman said she doesn't gloat about her scores, but she is competitive in making sure she's up there with the rest of her classmates.

Overall, we have a great, hardworking student and we're very proud of her!

Minimum Days

This week is crazy for me as far as running goes. Next week, Hannah goes off track for three weeks, therefore this week she is on minimum days because of parent conferences in the afternoons. So she gets dropped off at 8:00, and then school gets out at 11:15. See, crazy. But one of the best things today was that she came home with no homework! Yippeee! Here's hoping she comes home with no homework again tomorrow!
