Lost her 1st Tooth!

Hannah's tooth has been becoming looser and looser, and just looking awlful. Her permanent tooth is already through the gum and was pushing her baby tooth forward and overall just looked nasty. Today, while my parents were here for a Memorial Day BBQ, Gramma was wiggling and tugging at Hannah's tooth and out it came!!!!

Hannah has already found the little tooth shaped pillow we bought last Fall at a craft fair and is excited to place it under her pillow. We don't do the Tooth Fairy in our home, but she's been told that Mommy or Daddy will leave her a surprise under her pillow if her tooth is there!!!

Miniature Golfing

After picking up Hannah from the party, we decided to go miniature golfing. We've talked about going and just haven't done it until today. This was Hannah's first time minature golfing and towards the end she was starting to get the hang of it. Rachel, she liked moving everyone's golf ball. All in all, we had a great time and had fun as a family.

"Swing Hannah!"
"Where did the ball go??

First Drop Off Party!

Hannah was invited to a birthday party of one of her classmates this afternoon. When I told the the little boys' mom Hannah would be coming, she told me I was welcome to stay or just drop her off, whatever I wanted to do. I left that decision up to Hannah and she said she wanted to be dropped off. This was the first party I've ever dropped her off and not stayed for. I actually enjoyed just dropping her off. LOL.

When we went to pick her up, she was having a blast! They had a giant trampoline and had been jumping for hours. Needless to say she was one tired, sunburned (I remembered thinking I needed to put sunscreen on, but acutally forgot to), and one very dirty little girl. But she had a great time with all her friends from school!

Kindergarten Comes to an End

Hannah's Kindergarten school year has officially ended. I can't believe how quickly the last year has gone, let alone can't believe my baby is done with her first year of school.

We had a wonderful Kindergarten celebration this morning. The kids performed a couple of songs they learned through the year and each student was presented with their Kindergarten Diploma. Miss Cejka then recognized all the parent volunteers with a special card and a carnation flower.Following the little celebration, there was cookies and punch on the patio. The students chased each other about once last time on the play ground, finished getting everyone's signature in their yearbooks, and of course posed for numerous pictures. After saying final goodbyes and clearing out her cubby, it was off to a special lunch in honor of Hannah's special day. Hannah got to choose where she wanted to have lunch and she chose McDonald's of all places, simply because of it's current Happy Meal promotion. Tried telling her we can go to McDonald's any day of the week, but that's what she wanted, so that's what she got. I made a special cake in honor of the big day and we'll enjoy that this evening after dinner.

End of the Year Party

Hannah's class had thier year end party today. They had pizza, ice cream sundae cups, and fruit punch and pink lemonade to drink. All the kids enjoyed the party and had been talking about it all morning according to Miss Cejka. They continually asked when it would be time for pizza. Needless to say they were all so excited to see me come in the door carrying four pizza boxes!!! This is Hannah and her friend, Austyn. Austyn comes from a Christian family and is a really sweet little boy. Through the last year, he's brought Hannah a little something when he's gone to Disneyland, or other family outings, and even brought her an extra special Valentine. We've also been to his house for lunch and playdates. They are defianately good friends and I thought this was a sweet picture to share, despite the punch stained lips and pizza face. LOL. Believe it or not, our elementary school has yearbooks and each of the classes, Kindgarten through sixth grade, have their own pages. They are really nice yearbooks, with a hard cover and colored pictures. Another fun thing Hannah did today was that she took her yearbook to school and during recess, the classmates all signed one anothers yearbook. LOL. It's pretty cute how each of their wrote their name, most including thier last name, some names all capital letters, all uneven, some neat. But all cute and a reminder of how you learn to write in Kindergarten. Miss Cejka even signed her book and inscribed it that she'd been a great student and she was sure she'd do well in 1st grade. It'll be a neat thing to look back at years down the road.

Lunch Like a 1st Grader!

As part of preparing for going to 1st grade, the Kindergartners got to eat lunch in the cafeteria the last two days. A menu was sent home and Hannah decided to buy lunch yesterday, and pack her lunch today. This way she knows how to do lunch if she should buy or bring her lunch.

She was so excited both mornings. We packed her lunch last night for today, and she was so excited she must have walked around carrying her lunch box from the end of breakfast til the time to leave. She said eating in the cafeteria was a lot of fun and she can't wait to do it again!

A Hannah Funny

This made us laugh, so I just had to share this "Hannah Funny" on her blog.

Everynight before she goes to bed, I try to lay out the clothes in which Hannah will wear to school the next day. I did that last night, laying out her denim overalls with a polo shirt.

This morning, as I was getting ready to take her to school, Steven came to me and asked if I had anything else for Hannah to wear to school today because she didn't want to wear her overalls.

When asked why she didn't want to wear her overalls, her response was "I don't want to look like a dumb farmer". So I went into her closet, and pulled out a denim overall dress for her to wear, her response..."I don't want to wear that, then I'll look like the dumb farmer's wife".

To the Dentist

Over the last couple of days, one of Hannah's lower teeth has been turning dark. It's the one tooth that the dental hygenist said was loose when she cleaned Hannah's teeth months ago.

When I took the girls to Urgent Care on Sunday for their eyes, I asked the Pediatrician about it and he suggested I take her to see our dentist. We were pretty sure that the tooth had died because of it being loose, but to be sure that was all it was, and because the Pediatrician suggested we go, Hannah saw the dentist today. And yes, her tooth is greying simply because her permanent tooth is pushing up and causing her baby tooth to die. He said it's only a matter of a few weeks and it'll be out.

Hannah is excited and already looking forward to money under her pillow for her tooth. We don't do the Tooth Fairy, but have told her that Mommy or Daddy will leave her money under her pillow in exchange for her tooth. LOL.

I'll be trying to take extra pictures in the weeks to come. Once that tooth is out, her smile will never look the same!

Lunch and a Playdate

The girls and I had lunch and a playdate with a dear old friend and her boys today. It was such a wonderful time of fellowship for us moms, and the kids got along really well. Lisa's boys are 5 and 2, so they are really close in age to Hannah and Rachel.

It was such a hot day that following lunch, Lisa found the girls some shorts and t-shirts and together they all played in the little pool getting wet and cooling off. It's funny how girls can easily wear boy clothes, if Lisa and the boys had been here, all I would have had to offer for them to wear to get wet in would have been pink! LOL. We're looking forward to getting together again soon!

Mother's Day

Mother's Day. Some Mothers wake up to breakfast in bed. Some wake up to flowers and homemade cards. What do I wake up to?? Not one kid with gunky eyes, but BOTH girls with gunky and crusty eyes. LOL.

I got the flowers and homemade cards too, in addition to the crusty eyes. LOL. I spent the beginning of my Mother's Day at Urgent Care where my predetermined diagnosis of an eye infection was confirmed. Both girls are on antibiotic eye drops and are considered contagious. Thus we couldn't go to the Mother's Day BBQ at my grandmother's house this afternoon, nor were we able to spend any time with my mom for Mother's Day.

The kicker of it all, Hannah has only 10 school days left in this school year. Ten days. As mentioned in a prior post, she has perfect attendance. I guess I can say 'she had' perfect attendance. The Pediatrician said she can't go to school tomorrow. Despite the fact the contaguousness will be minimal after a few doses of the drops, to play it safe, she should not be around other children until it's been a full 24 hours on the drops.

Depending on how the girls are tomorrow morning, I'm seriously considering taking advantage of Hannah being out of school and going to Disneyland first thing in the morning. The girls act perfectly fine. Their eyes don't look nearly as bad as they did when they woke up, and should only get better with the drops. We'll see how they are in the morning.

2 Weeks Left

It's hard to believe that two weeks from today Hannah will have Kindergarten behind her! The class will have a celebration ceremony on Friday morning then the kids are free to go home, their year is over. At this point :::knock on wood::: Hannah has perfect attendance, so I would imagine she may get a certificate for her attendance. As for celebrating the occassion, I'm thinking we'll go out to lunch and I'll make her a special cake for celebrating her accomplishment.

It seems as though the last couple of weeks, all the kids have been progressing so quickly. Just this week alone, Hannah went from Level 5 on her reading and jumped to Level 8 as of today! It's as though all of a sudden, it 'clicked'. And since she's reading, sounding out, and figuring out words, the days of spelling words in attempts to keep her from knowing what you're talking about, are over. LOL. The other day in the car I was spelling a word out to my mom and boy was I suprised when Hannah sounded it out and figured out what word I was spelling.

Stuffed Animal Pet Show

Hannah did something fun in school today, the class had a pet show featuring their stuffed animals! Each child was allowed to bring one stuffed animal to school, as well as a picture of a 'real' pet. Hannah took a picture of Wendy, Gramma and Papa's dog, and her stuffed Wendy to share. Wendy won the award for "softest animal". All the way to school this morning we practiced what Hannah was going to share about Wendy. Something interesting about Wendy that needed to be shared was she was trained to help people with disabilites, but unfortunately failed one of the tests at the end of the program, thus she was given up for adoption, which is how Gramma and Papa came to get Wendy, through Canine Companions.

Hannah and Wendy have been best pals since Hannah was a baby. Hannah thinks of Wendy as her own dog, her own dog that lives with Gramma and Papa, and in my opinion, aren't those the best living arrangements? LOL. Unfortunately, Wendy has been recently diagnosed with cancer, and we really don't know how much longer she has. It's been a bit of a struggle as to whether or not to tell Hannah that Wendy is dying or to just let her enjoy Wendy for the time that's left, not knowing what's to come. For now, we're just letting her to continue to enjoy her and will cross the next bridge when we come to it.
